Meet Us, Mariah| Erie PA Birth Doula

We at Northwest PA Doulas thought it would be a great idea to do a blog series on the fantastic women who work here.

Get to know our birth, bereavement & postpartum doula, childbirth educator and postpartum placenta specialist, Mariah Post, below!

1.) Where is your hometown and what is one thing you love about it?

I grew up near nothing. Literally middle of nowhere. The closest town that I frequented was likely Townville, PA. Tiny, no stop lights but you could name most of the people who lived in the houses.

2.) If you could max out your credit card at any store, what store would you choose?

No brainer, Target.

3.) What was your favorite toy as a kid?

I was into baby dolls! I've always loved babies and said I would work with them someday.

SO ADORABLE!

SO ADORABLE!

4.)If you woke up tomorrow as an animal, what animal would you choose to be and why?

An otter. They are always the longest stop at the zoo for me.  They are so much fun to watch and I specifically like watching them if they have babies. (Pups are what they're actually called) They're like the perfect mix of chill and adventurous. I'd be a great otter. Lol.

5.) What do you think is the perfect age? Why?

25. Usually done with school, starting real life. Maybe thinking about getting married. Still young enough to fit in with the younger crowd and old enough to hold your own with folks older than you.

6.) What is a typical day like for you?

I'm an early riser, so I usually wake up around 2 hours before my kids and get business tasks accomplished. I hang out with them during most days unless I have clients to serve or La Leche League meetings to lead. They take a collective nap around 1 and I get business tasks done again then. My husband works a lot so depending on his schedule, sometimes we see him in the evenings! (Those are the fun days!)

7.) Which person in your life do you most admire? Why?

My Grandparents! They actually raised me and I lived with them up until I moved in with my husband.  They are incredibly caring and giving people. I love that they are the example of love, friendship and commitment I got to learn from growing up.

8.) What or who are you a closet fan of?

The Kardashians. Real Housewives type shows. Trash TV: the best way to decompress after a long day of parenting. Its totally not my normal lineup; I'm a documentary lover. But sometimes, trash tv and a good bowl of ice cream just hits the spot.

9.) What are 3 things still left on your bucket list?

Go to Europe, Take my family to California on vacation (I went alone on a business trip and I know they would love it!), becoming a traveling doula trainer.

10.) (And most important of all) Which way should the toilet paper hang? Over or under?

OVER!
